The stalwart of Konkani Stage Alegro Roque Theodorio Antao popularly known as Star of Arossim born on 11th September 1932 in the picturesque village of Arossim-Cansaulim left for his heavenly abode on 20th July 2016 at his residence in Palmar Vaddo, St. Estevao.
Star of Arossim wrote around a dozen tiatrs some of which are ‘Tarvachi Viaj’, ‘Ganv Bhav’, ‘Fulgoddem’, ‘Xetkamti’, ‘Dorji Camil’, ‘Kuddmi Onton’, ‘Retired Tarvotti’, ‘Amemio Dusman’, ‘Bailancho Parliament’, ‘Korunk Na Tem’, ‘Asson Duddu Sonvsar Koddu’, and ‘Bhakro Democracy’.
He has directed 9 of the above mentioned tiatrs. He has acted and sung in tiatrs written and directed by stalwarts of Konkani stage like Minguel Rod, Kid Boxer, M.Boyer, Remmie Colaco, C.Alvares, Jacint Vaz, Alfred Rose, J. P. Souzalin, Anthony Mendes, etc.
Star of Arossim also played music in numerous tiatrs. He has also played music in films along with the legendary music composer and arranger Anthony Gonsalves. He played the bongos, congo as well as the maharakas.
He has around 15 recorded songs to his credit. Some of which are ‘Nirmonn’, ‘Tambddem Bonder’, ‘Fulus Sott’ie’, ‘Birmoth’, ‘Honrad Tarvotti’, ‘Xit Koddi’, ‘Bai Go Rita’, ‘Bhoinni’, ‘Ladain’, ‘Marvoddo’, ‘Mog Thoddo Thoddo Korum-ia’, etc.

He has acted in the well appreciated Konkani film of yesteryears ‘Amchem Noxib’. Besides acting he also sang a song ‘Yo Moga’ in that film. He also composed lyrics for another Konkani film ‘Sukhachem Sopon’.
He was conferred with many prestigious awards for his invaluable contribution to tiatr and music which includes State Cultural Award in the year 2000-2001, Tiatr Academy’s ‘Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr Award’ in the year 2010.
On behalf of all the tiatr fraternity and tiatr lovers, Tiatr Academy of Goa condoles the death of this great tiatr personality and express heartfelt sympathies to his bereaved family and prays that the Almighty may give his soul eternal peace.
