Francisco Bringel, popularly known as Young Chico died on 2nd January 2019 and interred on 4th January at Guirim St. Diego's Church / Cemetery

Francisco Bringel popularly known as 'young Chico' left for his heavenly abode on 2nd January 2019, after a brief illness.
Young Chico was born to on 26th January, 1952.He was a lover of Tiatr since his childhood was rightly called the “Man with Golden Voice” who has rendered many Konkani songs in more known for his songs ‘Nouro’ he had a rich voice that listeners usded to long to hear him.

He has sung for artistes of yester years. Topmost directors of tiatr stage namely C. Alvares, M. Boyer, Remmie Colaco, Prem Kumar, Alfred Rose, Bab Peter, Tony Martin, Chris Perry, Kid Boxer, etc. young Chico has sung on several audio cassettes and has produced many of his own.

He was also felicitated by the 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations Committee and Tiatr Academy Goa his contribution to tiatr.

Young Chico will be remembered as an artiste who made tiatr performances meaningful and brilliant with his professionalism and selfless work.

Xavier Mendes, last journey 16.3.2018

Francis Xavier Mendes (Of Mendes brothers fame and sons of Late Anthony Mendes) died on 12th March 2018 at GMC Bambolim, Goa. Funeral took place on 16th March at St. Jerome's Church, Mapusa.

Brass band, as a tribute, played musical 'Gheun Nachotam' , the famous quartet by Xavier, Derrick, Felix and their sister Teresa which still plays on AIR (All India Radio, Goa)

Two priests concelebrated mass in English. In the end Xavier's sister Teresa? and son Jude? also spoke.

TAG condoles the Death of Francis Xavier Mendes

Francis Xavier Mendes, popularly known as Xavier on the tiatr stage was born on 16^th May 1950, passed away on 12^th March 2018 in Goa, after a brief illness. He was 68. His first experience in acting came at a tender age of 5 in a village tiatr in Juhu(Bombay). He was the active member of the Mendes Brothers trio who delighted the audience with their comedy, songs and acting. He was highly reputed tiatrist, decent and of high calibre.

Some of the big hits of the Mendes Brothers trio are ‘Maddona’, ‘Cabret’, ‘Kasaiwalla’, ‘Liquor Aunty’, ‘Khapurlem’, ‘Izdo’, ‘Amchi Mai’, etc. Xavier also known for his mimicry which was well received by the audience. He used to play the sounds of the trumpet with his mouth without the instrument, and was also good at imitating girl’s voices.

Much later, his sister Teresa joined them in singing “ Gheun Nachota” in Chris Perry’s tiatr “ Nouro Mozo Deuchar” which can be heard till today on the radio.

Xavier performed in ‘ Fulam ani Kante’ by Prem Kumar as a crippled man and was awarded as a best supporting actor; Rico Rod’s ‘ Zogzogta Tem Bangar Nhoi’, Bab Peter’s ‘Konn Nhoi Konnacho’, Aristedes Dias, ‘Divorce’(Bombay), Robin’s Vaz’s ‘Domnic Savio’ He as also performed for late C. Alvares.

Xavier Mendes was the recipient of TAG’s prestigious ‘Lifetime contribution to Tiatr’ award in 2014.

Tony Sax - Last Journey

TAG condoles the Death of Tony Sax

Antonio Francisco Fernandes, popularly known as Tony Sax on the tiatr stage, passed away on 6^th Feb 2018, at his residence in Collem, after a brief illness. He was 88. An actor, writer, director, singer, Tony Sax who has performed different roles in many tiatrs, was regarded as ‘Pran’ of the tiatr stage.

Tony Sax was an actor with a terrific charisma and has enacted various roles on the Konkani stage.

He has been a hero, villain and could handle role of a landlord with ease.

He was also a good singer and composed songs and rendered solos and duets.

Tony Sax was the recipient of TAG’s prestigious ‘Lifetime contribution to Tiatr’ award in 2010 and was honored by 125^th Tiatr Celebration committee in 2016.
